Mid-20s relative agrees to cat-sit while the pawrents are away, but breaks every rule possible: ‘I checked footage and she threw a party AND had overnight guests!’

They say you can always count on family, right? Well, some pet pawrents certainly think so, because they trust them with their most cherished companion - their pet. A lot of times when people need some pet-sitting, they task this important mission to a trusted family member. And it's also not that uncommon to call on a more distant famliy member, that other, closer relatives, can vouche for. So, you can always count on family, right? Right…

This one couple thought the same. Because "this is what they say", remember? So this man has a brother, who's engades to a woman, who has a sister - that agreed to cat-sit. Do you follow? Because famliy is family, even if it's distant. They know this young woman's sister, and her future brother-in-law, and if they vouch for her, there certainly wouldn't be any problems with her cat-sitting. Right? Right? Wrong. This young woman in her mid-20s broke every possible rule, request, and boundary the couple of pawrents set. And honestly, these were impressively easy steps to follow, like "don't have overnight guests", or "feed the cat"… Seriously basic stuff.

It's very impressive to know she managed to break every single one of the instructions left for her. Truly, we're in awe. But shedding the cynicism aside, we're definitely in awe of the couple who had to endure knowing she was the one in charge of their cat, and proud of them for returning home immediately to mitigate the damage their "cat-sitter" caused.

    AIO??? Brothers finances sister agreed to cat sit for us. Threw parties, had overnight guests, didn't stay the remainder of evenings and let us know she won't be staying the remainder of the week. We need to cut our trip short and family thinks I should be nicer to her. family/in-laws

  • They say “sleep on it” for a reason - sleep is like a reset to the mind. But honestly? We're just as livid reading about this experience. Lucky for this woman she can try and stay calm after sleeping a good night… We're not sure we sould be so calm.

    We usually have college kids we know who live at home (we're in a HCOL city) watch our cat when we're out of town for a decent daily rate, though a couple of them offer to do it for free since they get a break from their parents, get to use a nice gaming system, and walk to a bunch of nice bars and restaurants.

And the other is trying to “defend” her sister from taking responsibility by threatening a breakup with her partner, that had nothing to do with the situation? Honestly, this is ridiculous.

    OP Wawawamba I'm honestly blown away by the selfishness. Everyone keeps telling me that "he's just a cat he'll be fine. She had people over but the apartment is fine" is making me feel like I'm going crazy. She agreed to stay in the house overnight and feed my cat and not have overnight guests. If she didn't like it she shouldn't have agreed to it

    Running-With-Cakes It amazes me the length people will go to in order to justify and appease bad behaviour. If she left her fiancé she'd be doing him a favour. It wouldn't surprise me if you said everyone walks on egg shells around her and she walks all over everyone. Sounds like she wanted a free party house and didn't give a shit about the cat

    Natalias Maze Ask the others if if wasnt "family", if it had been a regular person you hired to do a job would they expect you to just let it go? Then remind them family should be held to a higher standard, cause its worse. She's family (essentially, through future marriage) and despite you being her family SHE completely disrespected YOU. If you should forgive her cause shes family shouldnt she have not done any of that shit cause you're family? And if she shows no remorse you can't forgive it.

Didn't have a reason why and we're really confused by it because all we did was remind her that we asked her to spend the nights and not have overnight guests, which she agreed to. We suspect she wasn't planning on staying the duration of our trip regardless

    Powerful_Put_6977 You had an arrangement, a contract if you will, even if it wasn't written down and signed, she new what she had effectively signed up for. 1. Feed cat & keep it company 2. No overnight guests 3. No parties & no loud sounds. She broke every single one of those. If you now have to cancel/rearrange your plans and that involves costs of same, I would definitely sue her for those costs at least.     OP Wawawamba I actually do have it written down in texts! She confirmed the rules multiple times. According to my states laws that's enough to take her to small claims court. I guess lucky for me she was more of a texter than a phone caller so I have documentation for everything
